If – A poem written to my daughter

If I could take away your pain

Would I erase every tear

Should I eliminate obstacles

And shelter every fear

If I could take your hurt

So that you’d never have to cry

Would I buffer every betrayal

Shield you from every lie

If I stood in the way of heartbreak

So you could never knows it’s depths

Would I also stand in the way of trouble

To redirect your steps

And when you encounter loss

What if I could take your grief

So death could never break you

And you would only know peace

My love none of this is possible

Life contains joy and sorrow

But The Comforter will be with you

He prepares strength for your tomorrow

As you get to know Him better

You’ll learn to rest within his plans

He’s ordained suffering & blessing

And your times are in his hands.
